Hi everyone. I just went shopping at the grocery store and got these ingredients: one whole Sole, zucchini, carrots, spinach, leeks, garlic, red bell peppers, and couscous. I am a terrible cook but I want to come up with some kind of healthy recipe that my husband and I can make together. Any suggestions? We could also use things like spices, butter, milk…stuff like that. We want to experiment..he’s the cook, I am not, but want to learn.

Here are several ways to cook Sole:

(i have no experience in cooking)simple instructions, with food that is not hard to find in the everyday grocery store, that is affordable?
If you want something fast, something FRESH, SOMETHING HEALTHY, try water…..

baking, braising, grilling/broiling, poaching, roasting, sauteing, steaming, stir-frying are common "healthy ways" of cooking i found in the net. im confused so if you do roasting but your ingredients are unhealthy then the essence of healthy cooking is contradicted.
ugh i dunno guys my mind is all murky right now and obviously having low IQ as of the moment so pls pls pls pls help me define "healthy way of cooking"
Healthy Cooking simply means low carbs and low fat. So, no deep frying, no skin on your chicken, trim fat off chops and steaks, eat veggies, fruit, seeds and nuts. Have greens every day, drink lots of water and follow the national food pyramid. Not a mystery, just watch what you eat.

I am doing an experiment to see if vegans can get all of the proper nutrition they need to live healthy. I would like to use a cookbook and I was wondering if anyone had an suggestions of a good cookbook to use.
Why would you think that vegans couldn’t get all of the proper nutrition? I can tell you that they can. I’ve been vegan for over 6 years. I recently had a thorough exam, including blood tests done to see how my health is. All of my tests came back with more than perfect results, and this includes B12,calcium,iron,protein etc. My doctor actually said that my health is of someone more than 10 years younger than me(I’m 34). I look younger than people my age,by more than 10 years, too(or so I’m told by people young and old,no one ever seems to believe my age).
The thing with the vegan diet is that ,it’s the same with a meat-eating diet. You can be healthy or unhealthy. You still have to think about what you’re eating, even if you have meat in your diet. The difference with the vegan diet is,since you can’t just eat whatever someone puts in your face, you actually have/get to plan what you’re going to eat. You can’t just run into McDonald’s whenever you’re hungry, you have/get to go home and plan dinner. You can’t just go out to work or school and settle with whatever slop you’re being served, you actually have/get to plan what you’re going to have to eat for the day.
After having said all of this, some of my favorite cookbooks are-La Dolce Vegan,In the Garden of Vegan and How it All Vegan-all by Sarah Kramer. Another one, which is my absolute favorite is Vegan Planet-by Robin Robertson. It has over 400 vegan recipes.
A lot of people like Vegan with a Vengeance, but I think it uses too much meat and cheese substitutes. I only use this cookbook on occasion.
Remember, there’s such a thing as overweight and underweight vegans. it’s possible to put weight on for a skinny girl(healthily, just as well as unhealthily),just as it’s possible to lose weight for someone who struggles with weight, and it could, again,be healthy or unhealthy weight-loss. You can still live off of french fries and potato chips,or you can eat a variety of vegetables, fruits and whole grains, with a moderate amount of substitutes. It’s a choice that’s the same no matter if you have meat or not in your diet.

and be like eating an old boot? do i not cook it as much or something? high heat?
er, "healthy living" like the lean cuts from tesco? i already have it, i need to use it.. not get something else atm
make it really really thin, like thin bacon.
Then get a boiling pot of chicken broth with garlic, and maybe onion and a lil pepper…and dip that in there untill she turns brown, should be fast, fish it out and eat it. You can keep dropping other stuff in there too like carrots and whatever- afterwords you got a kickass soup broth to drink you can drop some potatoes in there…chilli, mushrooms, tofu waateva…sugar and soy sauce makes a terriyaki.
And if the cut sucks..it will always be tough, Factory cow was probably killed with a divot in a kill truck…
